@LordSteerpike Obsessively so. Even though exact dates are rarely mentioned in the Guide, I ensure I know if it was a Wednesday – whether it was a date in 1973 or 1645 – and that the calendar is never made a liar.

@guessworker @LordSteerpike Merely two examples. 1645 is an important year in the life of both Dr. Bron as he walks the county and of England itself. 1973 is an important year in Hookland. However, it could just as easily have been 1928 or 1950.

@guessworker @LordSteerpike As an aside, possibly my favourite year in Hookland is 1889 – the year C.L. Nolan is back from London, off the ether and getting down to business – or 1981, which was such an an interesting year for Matt Adams.
