So often we are disapproved of by own parents. How much more daunting must it be then to come across the ghost of some long-distant ancestor with even greater levels of generational disconnection and contempt for your achievements? – C. Josiffe, ‘Ghost Signals’, 1954 #Ghosts https://t.co/59t8DNrKmi

@rizikaoikonomik Consider yourself lucky. Hookland is actively disliked by my family and I suspect, that also goes for an awful lot of my spectral ancestors as well.

@rizikaoikonomik No. Many ancestors hold opinions we may dislike such as we should work harder, be more successful, have children et al which take no account of cultural, economic or historic context. It’s hard to argue against an ancestor who judges a man’s worth on his ploughing.

@TigerLantern @GroupHookland The one positive of ancestor work is that is a crowd of voices and for all the pisspuffins in the choir of voices, there are those sing loud and clear on values we should all wish to navigate by.

I remember books of paper dolls, books of Hookland monsters you cut out and glued together. Construct the White Wyvern by folding tab A, make the Empress Eel by slotting tab X into slit B. – Lucy Carter #VOH
