@E_c_h_o @HelenMcClory As one of my favourite actors, I really am not. However, no script nor director would be able to evaporate Stewart‰Ûªs aura of Americaness. Dracula is in large part, a fear of seduction by the ‰Û÷outside‰Ûª.

Hookland 7/3/20 11:55:29

@r0g3rd4y @E_c_h_o @HelenMcClory Yes. Not as bad an actor as memory sometimes wants to make him, but that All-American patina would make impossible for him to be a convincing threat to societal norms and taboos from the ‰Û÷outside‰Ûª.

Hookland 7/3/20 12:07:39

@E_c_h_o @HelenMcClory Oh Stewart can and did do creepy and sinister, but a convincing outsider, someone quintessentially alien and foreign to the prevalent culture, no. Versatile and wonderful, but not alien.

@E_c_h_o @HelenMcClory Come now, horror is the best of genres for holding up mirrors to show the monsters within. The immigrant plague ship metaphor is as good now as it was in 1922 and 1897. New Dracula to reflect a culture of walls and ‰Û÷bad hombres‰Ûª would be a good thing.

The night has given me new maps, a sense of being able to turn corners and walk out of the familiar world into places that only exist in dream. Tea, toast and sunlight shall erase them from memory, but for now, they shimmer with possibility. – #CLNolan

Even now they have stopped walking The Hum, the Pylon People don’t seem to be able to give up on being hippies. Ragged lives moored on the canal, living among rumours of the Empress Eel and ghosts of dumped corpses. They are a strange lot, but I like them. – #MattAdam, 1980 https://t.co/BPDOuNzbYt

Of course, to the outside, many a true magical order just looks like a group of men wearing odd hats and with a penchant for clutching over-sized sticks. Yet true magic is often as ridiculous as it is strange. – #CLNolan on the ‰Û÷Wand Men‰Ûª of Thornfell. https://t.co/ctHxvxzoSn
