@LaineEleslaine @ElliotElinor I would also point out that violent crime spiked in London during the period. All those pictures of people sheltering on Tube platforms lack the high number of sexual assaults reported from such gatherings of fear. And as always, the rich dined very well at the Ritz.

@leahtype It is alright. Every so often, someone sends you a delightful DM to avoid ‰Û÷dog-piling‰Ûª to point out where you are being too ‰Û÷liberal‰Ûª or ‰Û÷soft‰Ûª or ‰Û÷PC‰Ûª and it‰Ûªs useful in terms of shaking out pisspuffins and those in need of having Hookland hospitality withdrawn.

@bigmeuprudeboy @LaineEleslaine @ElliotElinor Back in the days when I was interviewing Frankie Fraser et al for true crime books, criminals of the period would get immensely nostalgic for the war. Not just their usual romancing of crime, but a deep conviction it was a golden age.

@bigmeuprudeboy @LaineEleslaine @ElliotElinor He was genuinely sorry the war ended. ‰ÛÏMost of the naughtiness (shootings) got blamed on GIs. We had fun and half the time some Yank copped for it.‰Û

Concrete cicatrix haunts the landscape with blind persistence of the ghost that does not know it is dead. Still listening out for sound of planes, the rumours of war. https://t.co/3aCpaqgptJ
