At the age of six or seven, the complete sexual subtext passed me by. However, I did respond to the fact that vampire was more matronly, more like women I actually knew than the young blonde girls on lurid, forbidden novel covers. This of course made her much scarier. #HookWatch

There is a lot to be packed into this tale, so not only does every scene count, every shot, every look. It’s economic film-making that knows how to let its actors, soundtrack and cinematography do the heavy lifting to ensure the atmosphere is built. #HookWatch

An ambiguous ending and an incredibly pacy telling of the tale. It is a shame that the series never really took off or reached the heights of this adaptation. This is was early evening TV when first broadcast and is a great example of pre-watershed horror. #Hookwatch

@PaoloSammut Ask Collins. He usually loafed around while the heavy lifting was done. I suspect from my time as an undertakers boy it would take more than two hours.
