@pighilltweets Another reason that ‰Û÷they‰Ûª annoys me in actual discussion of folklore, rather than as a tool in fiction, is because it erases the hyper-locality of folklore. If they are 19th century villagers from X – blooming well say that!

@pighilltweets Hookland was created partly due to my dislike of creepy pasta as erasure of place. As a place that doesn’t exist, Hookland tries to represent the folkloric ecological niches and rather than denuding actual folklore of context, to be honest in remembering it differently.

@pighilltweets Hookland also tries to use its folklore as a sign=posting back to both a reader’s own hyper-locality lore and they inspirations behind what you find here in their original form. I’m not sure I always manage this, but it is the intent.
